Startup Deep Dive

Startup Deep Dive is an initiative that aims to give students an opportunity to immerse into research commercialisation and network with companies and projects that emerged from health and life science research.

The next Deep Dive is organized for the students in Medicine and Dentistry in the fall 2025 (Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki). The programme is mostly in Finnish with some parts of it in English (for example, the orientation session).

Eligibility

So far, the initiative has been limited to the Faculty of Medicine degree students (within the times when the batch is announced with their programme directors). We accept applications from all students registered to the programme independently of their background or innovation experience.

What Do the Students Get?

1-month 24/7 access to Terkko Health Hub, where they can freely use our co-working space, meeting rooms, community kitchen with free coffee and tea, and printer facilities.
Invitation to our community events, including Community Get-Togethers, Investor Meetups, Terkko Workshops and Delegation Visits.
Access to networking with our startup members and our Research to Business projects, as well as wider life science innovation ecosystem in Finland and abroad.
ECTS for their studies: 27 hours spent in this initiative are roughly equal to 1 ECTS. The students choose how much time they want to invest into this, and we will issue you a certificate.

What Will We Ask From Them?

Be active and be our guests! They choose how they want to utilise the opportunity and we’ll help them out when needed.
Co-organise an ‘Innovation breakfast’ with Terkko Health Hub, Helsinki Think Company and other innovation actors present at Terkko. ‘Innovation breakfasts’ are cozy circles for students to share their innovative ideas, but in principle we want to give the ‘Deep Divers’ a chance to be as flexible as they want with topics, speakers and programme. For these events, Terkko provides the necessary catering.
